English is commonly spoken in tourist areas, larger hotels, airports, and by many younger people in big cities, but it is less reliable in smaller towns and local transport settings.

Mobile Network: Mobile coverage is generally good in cities, airports, and most tourist corridors. Speeds are commonly good on 4G networks, but service can be weaker in remote mountain, inland, or rural coastal areas.

Roaming/SIM/eSIM: For short trips, roaming is convenient but may be expensive outside your home plan. A local SIM usually gives the best value for heavy data use and domestic calls, though registration rules and shop paperwork can take time. An eSIM is often the easiest option for most visitors if your phone supports it, because setup is quick and pricing is usually clearer than roaming. Compare coverage and data limits before arrival if you plan to visit rural areas.

Cards are widely accepted in cities, airports, shopping centers, hotels, and many restaurants. Cash is still useful for taxis, small cafes, local markets, beach businesses, and some rural areas.

Tipping is common but moderate. In restaurants, around 5 to 10 percent is typical if service is not already included. In cafes, rounding up or leaving a small amount is common. Hotel porters commonly receive a small cash tip per bag, and housekeeping may be tipped for good service. Taxi drivers are often tipped by rounding up the fare rather than adding a fixed percentage.

Adapter: Visitors from countries using 230 V Type C or Type F plugs commonly do not need an adapter. Travelers from the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, and other countries with different plug types usually need an adapter, and some devices may also need voltage compatibility.
