Dial *#06# — if the screen that appears includes a long number labelled EID, your phone has the eSIM chip
The EID is the serial number of the embedded chip. A phone that has no chip has no EID to show, so the presence of that line is the answer. It works on both iPhone and Android and needs no internet connection.
On an iPhone
- Open Settings
- Tap General, then About
- Scroll down and look for EID
On Android
- Open Settings
- Tap About phone or SIM card manager
- Look for EID, or an option to add a plan without a SIM card
The Second Half of the Check
Finding an EID proves the chip exists. It does not prove your operator will let you use it. On an iPhone, Settings › General › About › Carrier Lock should read No SIM restrictions. On Android the wording differs by manufacturer, and the reliable answer comes from whoever sold you the phone.

If *#06# shows an IMEI but no EID, your phone cannot take an eSIM. There is no setting that turns the chip on, and no update that adds it — the hardware is either there or it is not.
