Will My eSIM Work in All Countries?

Only in the countries listed on the plan you bought — the eSIM profile is worldwide, but the plan running on it is not

This is the distinction worth holding on to. The profile is the reusable thing installed on your phone. The plan is what it is currently allowed to do, and every plan carries a country list.

    PlanWorks In
    Country PlanOne country
Regional PlanEvery country on the region's list
Global PlanA long list spanning several continents

    Outside the List

Nothing happens, and nothing is charged. The eSIM simply does not connect, and your phone falls back to Wi-Fi or to your home SIM if that one is switched on. There is no roaming charge from the eSIM, because there is no account behind it to bill.

If your home SIM is still switched on with data roaming enabled, that line will happily connect and bill you at your operator's rate. Turning roaming off for the home line before you fly is what prevents it — see What is Roaming, and How do I Avoid Roaming Charges?

    Before You Buy

    • Read the country list, including for layovers and day trips across a border
    • Check territories separately — islands and overseas territories are often listed apart from the mainland they belong to
    • If the itinerary might change, a wider plan bought up front costs less than a second plan bought in a hurry

A destination we do not sell a plan for is simply not on the destinations list. If yours is missing, the live chat can tell you whether something covers it as part of a region
