How Long Does Activation Take After Arrival?

Usually one to three minutes from the moment the phone leaves flight mode — occasionally up to ten in a busy terminal

Activation is not a process anyone runs for you. Your phone scans for networks, chooses one your plan permits, and registers with it. That handshake is what starts the plan, and how long it takes depends on the network rather than on us.

    What the Wait Consists Of

    StepRoughly
Phone scans for available networks30–60 seconds
Registering with the chosen network30–90 seconds
    Status changes to ActiveImmediately after

    Why It Sometimes Takes Longer

    • An arrivals hall where a whole aircraft is registering at once
    • Deep inside a terminal, underground, or in a building with poor reception
    • An older phone, which scans more slowly
    • Wi-Fi still switched on, so the phone has no reason to look for a mobile network

The reliable nudge is flight mode: on for ten seconds, then off. It forces a fresh scan and fixes most slow arrivals in one attempt.

If ten minutes pass with no operator name at the top of the screen, something in the settings is the cause rather than the network. The checklist is in Why is My Plan Still Showing as Pending After Landing?
