Yes — that is the normal way to travel with one. Your home SIM keeps your number reachable while the eSIM carries the data, both lines active at the same time

Any phone with a SIM tray and an eSIM chip is a dual-SIM phone. Two lines can be registered at once, and you choose what each one does.

    The Standard Arrangement

    Home SIM

    • Calls and text messages on your own number
    • Bank codes and two-factor messages
    • Data roaming off

    Travel eSIM

    • All mobile data
    • Data roaming on
    • Everything that uses the internet

    What This Gives You

    • Your number stays reachable, so nothing important goes missing
    • Data is prepaid at a price you agreed, with no bill afterwards
    • Codes sent by text still arrive, which matters more than people expect

Incoming calls and messages on the home line are still billed by your own operator at their roaming rate, because that part is not data. If you want them to be free, let calls come through an internet calling app instead.

On an eSIM-only phone with no SIM tray, the same arrangement works with two eSIM profiles instead — the home line is simply an eSIM as well.

Name the lines clearly during installation. Every prompt asking which line to use becomes obvious, and so does the one on the mobile data screen
