Usually not — a travel eSIM is issued to one device and stays there. Buy for the phone you will actually carry
Some phones offer to move eSIMs when you set up a new handset, and for a home operator's line that often works. A travel profile is more restricted, because it was issued for a single installation.
What Sometimes Works
- Apple's transfer during setup, between two recent iPhones on the same account
- Android's transfer tools, between two recent phones from the same manufacturer
Both depend on the profile permitting a transfer, and travel profiles frequently do not. If the transfer fails, the profile can be lost from the old phone without arriving on the new one — which is worse than not trying.
The Safer Order
- Finish the current plan on the phone that has it
- Set up the new phone
- Buy the next plan and install it there
If You Are Changing Phone Mid-Trip
Contact support before deleting anything. Where a reissue onto a new device is possible we can arrange it, and that option disappears the moment the profile is deleted.
