What Happens if I Run Out of Data?

The connection stops. Nothing is charged, nothing overruns — the plan simply ends, and you top up or buy another one to carry on

This is the fundamental difference between prepaid data and roaming. There is no account behind the eSIM to bill, so running out costs nothing beyond the inconvenience.

    What You Will Notice

    • Pages stop loading and apps report no connection
    • Signal bars may still show — the phone is registered, it is just not allowed to carry data
    • Wi-Fi still works normally
    • Your home line is unaffected

    Getting Back Online

    1. Find Wi-Fi — a café, a hotel, the airport
    2. Sign in and top up, or buy a new plan for where you are
    3. It attaches to the same eSIM, so nothing needs installing
    4. The connection returns within a few minutes

Do not switch data roaming on for your home SIM as a stopgap. That is the exact charge the eSIM was bought to avoid, and a few minutes of it can cost more than a whole new plan.

On an Unlimited Plan you cannot run out. Passing the daily full-speed allowance slows the connection rather than stopping it, and full speed returns the next day.

Check the remaining figure at the halfway point of the trip rather than at the end. Topping up over hotel Wi-Fi in the evening is a two-minute job; doing it with no connection in an unfamiliar place is not
