The plan ends on its last day whether or not the data is used up, the connection stops, and nothing further is charged
Every plan carries two limits — an amount of data and a number of days — and it ends at whichever arrives first. Expiry is the second one.
What Happens
- Mobile data stops working on the travel line
- Any remaining data is lost, and cannot be refunded or carried over
- The eSIM profile stays on your phone, ready for a new plan
- Nothing renews automatically, and nothing bills you
The days count from activation, not from purchase, so a plan bought a month early still gives you its full validity at the destination.
Still Travelling?
- Connect to Wi-Fi
- Buy a new plan for where you are
- It attaches to the same eSIM automatically
- The connection resumes without reinstalling anything
If the trip was extended before the plan ran out, buying the next plan early is worth doing. It sits Pending and starts the moment the current one finishes, so there is no gap at all.
Watch the expiry date rather than only the data. Running out of days with gigabytes unused is the more annoying of the two ways a plan can end, and the easier one to avoid
